A number of companies make high-interest loans to residents of Illinois and Indiana over the Internet. In most cases, they do not have lending licenses from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions and are not banks. Without a lending license or a bank charter, a loan at more than 9% (Illinois) or 25% (Indiana) is void and unenforceable.
Debt collectors have been contacting residents of Illinois and Indiana attempting to collect such loans. All of the collection attempts violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Please contact us if attempts have been made to collect such a loan from you.
